I actually don't like the song that much. But I like that line.
I really like that movie though. One of my favorite characters in it is Charlotte. Yes, she is spoiled and rich, but she is just so funny. The actress who speaks for the character has a wonderful accent! And while the character is spoiled, she does care about Tiana I think. When she sees Tiana and Naveen are in love she tries to help them become human, even if it is too late.
And it also has one of the most romantic/happy scenes I have seen in a movie in a while. When Ray dies (and yes, I cried over a bug's death, even though if there is a fly or spider in my house, I kill them--ironic) and they put him in the leaf to float away... and then! you see a new star next to Evangaline (Sp?) and I just thought that was the most adorable thing! It was the perfect thing to make his death less sad, because it's like the sayings "oh, they are happier now." I really did believe Ray was happier, and it was really a wonderful moment in the movie.
It also just has wonderful themes that children should be watching. "What you give is what you get," "don't matter whatcha look like" are just two quotes from songs, and Tiana could be a wonderful role model. Another thing I like is the villain-the vodoo guy. I like how he is pretty much evil and cruel, so you don't sympathize with him. Makes it a lot easier to dislike the villain! Seems like another thing in movies and books and stuff, it's harder to dislike the villain. Just take Starwars for example. You see Anakin grow up to be Darth Vader. It's hard to hate the character that used to be a cute little boy, or a guy in love (even though he did have slight anger problems.)
Since I want to make a transition over to Harry Potter now, I will. Voldemort is another good villain in that way. I like/love all of JK's characters. Her evil characters are evil. Her good characters are good. Her in between characters are in between. I won't go into the details of specific things I like about them right now though, I am talking about Voldemort. Anyways, he is pretty darn easy to hate. He is ruthless and doesn't love anyone, or sympasize anyone, ect. He does have the childhood of growing up in and orphanage and having a father who didn't want him, but that is pretty much the only thing you might feel sorry about for him.
Now on to more Harry Potter after that lovely transition there.
Last I spoke to you, I was going to the midnight movie with my step-sister. Well, turns out my dad wouldn't let her drive me. So that was a bummer, right? So it was Thursday and sad, and I was probably going to blog about how horrible karma was being to me. I took early-ish, because hey, what else did I have to do? (Besides homework, studying, and writing for nanowrimo, and a new book.) When I got out, low and behold, I had text messages and missed calls! Turns out the friends I originally wanted to go with found out they could take me!
So that was really exciting and basically made my year! I am so grateful and thankful and all that other stuff! So they are pretty much my favorite people ever! I am happy just thinking about how happy I was.
Now on the the movie. Yes, the movie. I am not going to review it tonight. Why? That would take me quite some time. I want to talk about basically everything. So I going to wait a couple more days, but you can be expecting a Deathly Hallows Part 1 review some time soon. What else can you except? Annoying Monday and Musical Wednesday! Hopefully, that is.
Now on to the second, or maybe third really, part of this post. I was thinking about this today for some reason, and decided to post about it! So you can thank the fact that I think for this blog post.
Role models! Yes, you are probably expecting me to put these in list form. And no, I won't disappoint. But to keep you on your toes, I am only going to list two! I will give you two others sometime. Might have to remind me though, just in case I forget.
The two role models I chose today are both from Harry Potter. Can't say you are surprised, right?
- Hermione Granger- Of course you can be expecting more than one Harry Potter character on this list. But she is really either my top role model, or one of them. I liked her from the moment I read about her in the Harry Potter books. As a younger child she was my favorite role model, and she still is. I think I relate to her a bit. I read often like her, and while I am not a genius (like her) I am at least smart and try in school. There are other things about her that I admire, but don't have. She is just a really brave and loyal person, (Gryffindor, duh) even though she doesn't always show it. And I think it really shows when she is older, she is pretty much just awesome. Like Ron says (in the movie) "We wouldn't last two days without her."
- Harry Potter- While he isn't my favorite character of the Harry Potter series, I really like Harry Potter. And a lot of the reasons I like him are pretty much the list of why he is one of my role models. He is brave-something I am not. He also gives up his life to protect other people. Drops out of school to kill Voldemort. He could just sit back and let someone else attempt to kill him, but he really lives up to the title "The Chosen One." He is also so strong. He has gone through so much, not just all the challenges of surviving Voldemort, but the fact that many of his loved ones die. I would be an emotional wreck if I was him, and while he is emotional about death sometimes, he handles it so well considering. He goes through one death after another.
